Prague - Starting today, Prague is making the draft of the new zoning plan available to interested parties for one month. It will be displayed on working days at the information center in the Škoda Palace on Jungmannova Street, in the building of the City Development Authority (ÚRM), and indefinitely online. Individual districts are also expected to publish the plan. Residents of Prague will be able to see what changes are being prepared in the vicinity of their homes. They can submit comments and objections to the draft until December 9. Prague will also hold public lectures on November 9 at 5:00 PM and November 16 at 10:00 AM in the representative hall of the magistrate at Mariánské náměstí, where people will learn everything about the draft zoning plan. However, they will only be able to submit comments at the public discussion, which will take place in the representative hall on November 23 at 9:00 AM. The new zoning plan is expected to come into effect in 2012 and will be valid for about 15 years. Compared to the current plan, there will be new height and spatial regulations that should ensure that new buildings do not exceed an appropriate capacity and height relative to their surroundings. According to this regulation, the current skyscrapers in Pankrác could not be built. The plan includes, for example, a new metro line D, the development of tram and railway lines. It encompasses the construction of both the city and Prague ring roads, the expansion of the Central Wastewater Treatment Plant, or a tunnel connection between Masaryk and Smíchov train stations. It will also allow some controversial projects, such as the construction of cable cars to Kavčí Hory and Dívčí Hrady.
