Prague - The capital city plans to modify the surroundings of the Petřín Lookout Tower for 19.6 million crowns. The council today decided on the contractor for the work. The renovation includes, among other things, landscaping, replacing asphalt with paving, creating seating areas, and eventually replacing the street furniture. It should be completed within one year.

"In my opinion, this is the most neglected part of the Petřín Gardens, which has not been modified for decades," said councilor for the environment and infrastructure Jana Plamínková (STAN/Trojkoalice). According to her, seating, a paved promenade, and the little chapels will also be renovated around the lookout tower.

Originally, the city hall wanted to replace benches and other street furniture as well. However, the council agreed to only repair the existing ones for now. The city is currently completing a design competition for new benches and bins. After it concludes, a tender will be announced for supplying new street furniture, which will gradually replace the current ones throughout Prague. Once it is available, the city will also replace it on Petřín.
