Praha 13 no longer wants a national football stadium in its territory

Prague - Prague 13 no longer wants a national football stadium to be built on its territory, although it originally wished for it. The municipal council abolished the resolution in which it agreed to the construction, announced the spokesperson of the town hall Samuel Truschka today.
The Czech-Moravian Football Association recently announced that it intends to build the stadium on the site of the current Sparta football stadium in Letná. Prague 13 was considered in the past.
"We do not like the current state of the Czech-Moravian Football Association, which is constantly troubled by corruption scandals and personal disputes. Currently, the football association has another location for the stadium. But in case there is a turnaround and the option of building the stadium in Letná falls through, Prague 13 declares that it no longer wants a national football stadium on its territory," said the mayor of Prague 13, David Vodrážka.
Some time ago, the Czech-Moravian Football Association and Prague 13 discussed the location of the stadium in the so-called Western City, in the development area west of Jeremiášova Street. The leadership of the municipal district was very interested in cooperation at that time. Now, however, it has reassessed its plans.
In mid-May, the vice-chairman of the football association Vlastimil Košťál and Prime Minister Jiří Paroubek (ČSSD) proposed building the national football stadium in Letná. The new stadium is supposed to have a capacity of at least 35,000 seats and should be completed in 2010. According to Paroubek, the state will support the project with one billion crowns for building the transport infrastructure.
There was also earlier consideration that the national football stadium could be built in the territory of Prague 9.
