Prague - Prague 11 will not build a new town hall, the new leadership of the municipal district has decided. The reason is a lack of funds. The building was to be located near the C subway station Háje and was originally intended to cost over 300 million crowns. This was announced today by the town hall spokesman Miroslav Dvořák. The construction was planned by the municipal district under the leadership of former mayor Dalibor Mlejnský (at that time ODS). Officials will thus continue to remain in three buildings that the town hall currently uses.

"The plan considered for several years to consolidate the entire agenda in one place has given way to the economic cost of the project," Dvořák stated. The new leadership resulting from the October elections decided to terminate the project already in December.
Officials in Jižní Město are now located in three buildings. The new town hall was to be built on an open area near the C subway station Háje. According to the plans, it was to have three above-ground floors, and the built-up area was to be 108 meters by 40 meters. The ground floor was planned to include reception halls, a mailroom, and a bistro, while the rest would consist of offices. A small square with a fountain and an underground parking lot with 150 spaces was also to be created.
The leadership of the municipal district composed of representatives of the Movement for Prague 11, TOP 09, and ANO has also managed to cancel the controversial tender for the construction of a bicycle tower near the Háje metro for approximately 10 million crowns. Mayor Jiří Štyler (HPP 11) considers the bike storage tower unnecessary. Prague 11 has also halted the tender for green maintenance for 160 million crowns. It will be issued again in January with different conditions.
The municipal district of Prague 8 is already building a new town hall at Palmovka. It will cost one billion crowns and will also house a shopping center. Prague 10 planned to move - the new headquarters was to be located at Hagibor and cost nearly a billion. However, part of the residents and opposition politicians opposed it. The town hall of Prague 7 is also looking for a new location, which currently operates in a rented building on Captain Jaroš Embankment. It is not yet clear where it will relocate. In the past, for example, Prague 13 built a new town hall, and in 2009, Prague 4 moved from Nusle to the polyclinic building at Budějovická in Krč.
