Poděbrady - Poděbrady in the Nymburk region want to convert the former boiler room on Hakenova Street into a multifunctional center with a capacity of 150 people next year. It is intended to serve for organizing cultural events or meetings of associations. The town hall plans to allocate 20 million crowns for the reconstruction of the unused municipal building in next year's budget. Ladislav Langr (Choice for Poděbrady), the deputy mayor, told ČTK this.

"The Cultural Club Kotelna is currently working on the one-stage project documentation, and we would like to select a contractor by spring 2024 and open the facility to the public by the end of 2024," said Langr. The future use should include a wide range of leisure activities. "Primarily it should be for senior associations, but also perhaps for piano concerts, certain types of exercise classes, or weddings," said the deputy mayor Miroslav Holas (Our Poděbrady) to ČTK.

The city leadership is also continuing preparations for the construction of a large-capacity cultural hall for up to 700 people. It is planned to be on two floors of the department store known as the Pink Elephant. The city leadership is currently negotiating with the owner about exchanging floors for a neighboring parking lot. "At the same time, work is underway on an architectural study that should include all our requirements for the optimal operation of the future multifunctional hall Elephant," said Langr. The councilors are expected to discuss the exchange at their first meeting next year. "It would be ideal if we could complete all the project and paper work by the end of 2024 so that we can start construction modifications at the beginning of 2025," Langr added.

The proposed budget for next year, published on the city's website last week, anticipates revenues of 444 million crowns and expenditures of nearly 500 million crowns. The councilors will approve it on December 13. This year’s budget amounts to 505 million crowns after incorporating budgetary measures.
