Plzeň - Around 13,000 people have already seen four of the newly accessible interwar interiors designed by the world-renowned architect Adolf Loos in Plzeň. The first two routes opened in April last year, and the third was added in November. This year, the city will open previously inaccessible and unreconstructed interiors at Klatovská Street 19 and Plachého Street 6 on special occasions and holidays, said Zuzana Koubíková, director of the municipal organization Plzeň - TOURISM, to ČTK.

According to her, there is great interest in tours of Loos's interiors. A limited number of people can enter the apartments in groups, and outside the season, tours only take place on Thursdays and Saturdays, with Sundays added during the season. Loos is credited with 13 realizations in Plzeň. Eight of them have been preserved. Since last April, people can see the apartments of the Kraus and Vogl families at Bendova 10 and Klatovská 12, as well as the Brummel house at Husova 58; since November, the Semler residence at Klatovská 110 has also been open.

The apartment at Klatovská 19, originally designed for the family of gramophone needle manufacturer Hugo Semler, played an important role in Plzeň's history. In May 1945, Wehrmacht officer Georg von Majewski signed the capitulation there and then shot himself in front of the onlookers. The apartment will open for the first time this year during the May Freedom Festival. Among other things, it has a music room with walls covered in marble and mirrors.

In addition, this year, people will also have the rare opportunity to visit another otherwise inaccessible bachelor apartment of Richard Hirsch at Plachého 6. The renovation of the second part of the apartment at Bendova 10 will also be completed. Only a minimum of original elements have been preserved in it, but facilities have been created for holding seminars and cultural events. Tourists can now buy a combined ticket for all three routes for 400 crowns, saving them up to 160 crowns. Tours can be scheduled according to available slots in the reservation system.
