Plzeň - In the streets of downtown Plzeň, a four-day Design Days will take place next spring. Organizers from among Plzeň designers want it to become an annual event. The first one is scheduled to coincide with the Finále film festival, at the end of April. Designers from all fields, both students and professionals, will present their work. They will mainly focus on home interiors and accessories, clothing, jewelry, shoes, as well as industrial design, architecture, and scenography, said Dita Nosková, a Plzeň stylist, makeup artist, and owner of the Design Block studio. Over 100 creators will gather at the large exhibitions in the streets of Plzeň. The first year is not intended to be megalomaniac, but "perfectly prepared" so that more creators and studios can gradually join the event. "The pedestrian zone will serve as a large stage. Furthermore, we will have a design market in a borrowed large building, where creators will set up their own workshops," said Nosková. Designers from all over the Czech Republic and Slovakia will come to Plzeň; in the following years, the event aims to attract foreign creators, who will organize workshops for students and the public. The organizers want to establish a more personal relationship between creators and the public directly on the street. They are closely cooperating with the Institute of Art and Design of the West Bohemian University. "Students will have an exhibition at the design market and will compete for funding for their collection for next year," she stated. To support the event, which will cost hundreds of thousands of crowns, the organizers have established a civic association Follow the Bunny. It will seek municipal and regional grants and is negotiating with sponsors. "But we don't want to do it commercially and charge designers rent like in Prague and elsewhere," said Nosková. The organizers want to give young designers the opportunity and teach people to appreciate design quality. "It is necessary for them to realize that design is not just for the top ten thousand, as many believe. Design starts at home and is a part of daily life that can be brought into your life without having to buy plastic things at 'Everything for 39 crowns,'" said organizer Pavla Kormošová. According to her, people subconsciously crave originality but simultaneously go to supermarkets because they do not know where else to go. There are four design shops in Plzeň, but people do not know them. The organizers want to show that design is not just about buying expensive things. The event is being prepared in the park circuit of the city center and in the square. According to Nosková, an evening 3D visualization of St. Bartholomew's Cathedral is under negotiation. The entry attraction, which aims to bring the event closer to the public, will be the first Design Cocktail on December 1st at the cultural house Peklo in Plzeň.
