Přerov - The five-story Emos building in TGM Square in Přerov will see about forty city hall officials vacate in the coming weeks. The reason is a planned extensive reconstruction of the building. During the reconstruction, officials will have to relocate to temporary premises - already at the end of February, they will be moving to Smetanova Street and in March to the spaces of the Pasáž gallery. The relocations will limit some department agendas for a few days, and residents of the city must also consider the limitations when processing documents, stated the city hall spokesperson Lenka Chalupová to ČTK.

"From Monday, February 20, to Thursday, February 24, there will be limited activity in the areas of traffic offenses, the road administrative office, and the transport office. From Monday, February 27, these activities will be fully available at the new address Smetanova 7, where the road administrative and transport office will relocate, and at the address Smetanova 7a, where traffic offenses will be addressed,” said Přerov's mayor Petr Vrána (ANO).

The city also recommends that residents who will need to process their identity card, passport, or driver's license should obtain their documents by the middle of March. After this date, the counters at TGM 16 will be permanently closed, and from March 15 to March 31, officials will be moving to temporary spaces in Pasáž. People will be able to process new documents during these days at any authority with extended competence. The office in Pasáž will operate from Monday, April 3.

Officials are expected to work at the provisional workplaces until the end of 2025, during which time the unsightly building in the square should be completely reconstructed. In 2020, the city purchased the building for 38 million crowns, and approximately 160 officials from six offices are to relocate there after the renovation. The five-story administrative building is set to be transformed into a modern headquarters according to the winning architectural design by Anagram&Gruppa.

The costs were initially estimated at 130 million crowns, but the latest discussions have mentioned amounts up to 300 million crowns. "Currently, the project preparation is completed, the building permit is final, and the preparation of documentation for the public procurement is underway, but the public procurement itself has not yet been announced,” added the mayor's deputy Vladimír Lichnovský (ANO). City representatives also plan to apply for a grant for energy measures for this property at the turn of March and April. However, the property must not be utilized at that time, which is why the city is not delaying the relocation of officials.
