Brno - The Civic Democratic Party (ODS) in Brno has collected around 2,000 signatures in three weeks for a petition against the proposed exchange of five buildings in the city center for properties that obstruct the construction of a new football stadium behind Lužánky. Markéta Vaňková (ODS), who was involved in the petition's creation, told reporters today. In a few weeks, ODS will present the petition to the city hall leadership. The city cannot build the stadium for two billion until it acquires the properties of businessman Libor Procházka. According to ODS, he is offering historically valuable buildings in exchange. The party will also distribute 95,000 leaflets in mailboxes explaining why it opposes the exchange.

The businessman has a tennis hall or underground garages and communications on the properties in Brno. The city has been trying to negotiate with him for several years. Meanwhile, it lost a lawsuit regarding the use of properties, such as parking lots or communications, and has to pay millions. Another lawsuit threatens the city. Procházka's property is worth about a quarter of a billion koruna.

According to Vaňková, some people signed the petition online, while others signed on petition sheets. "We consider such a number of signatures to be a decent interest from the citizens. It is a topic that concerns people. We will continue to collect signatures at least until the end of February, and then we will hand them over to the city leadership, which will hopefully reconsider its opinion and try to find another solution," Vaňková said.

ODS proposes that the city pay Procházka in cash for his properties. However, he demands a property for a property. "Another option is to exchange it for land, and the last option is to select buildings that do not have historical value," Vaňková added.

Brno is considering offering Procházka, for example, the recently renovated covered market in Zelný trh or the House of Lords of Kunštát and three other buildings.

The two billion stadium is to be built in the location of the old stadium. Zbrojovka, which won a title there in the past, left it at the beginning of the millennium, and since then the building has deteriorated. The new stadium is to have 30,000 seats.
