Parking in the center of Budějovice will be solved by a parking garage

České Budějovice - The lack of parking spaces in the center of České Budějovice will be addressed by a new parking garage. The building, which will provide parking for 395 cars, will be constructed at the corner of F. A. Gerstner and Goethova streets. A private investor will begin construction, costing around 150 million crowns, this autumn. The garage is expected to serve drivers next year.
"It is a number that is nearly close to the entire parking capacity in the center regarding resident and subscriber cards. The building should be designed so that it will be one-third utilized for long-term rentals," said Deputy Mayor Juraj Thoma to reporters.
A total of 12,500 square meters of space will also facilitate parking during hockey games at the nearby Budvar Arena. It will also serve visitors to the current freezer plant, which is set to be transformed into a multifunctional center with shops, restaurants, apartments, and offices within two years.
Several parking garages are also planned to be built in Tábor in the future. The city will construct a parking garage beneath the Střelnice cultural center this year. The building will have four above-ground and one or two underground floors, creating around 100 parking spaces. Costs will reach 34 to 40 million crowns. New parking garages could also be built at the bus station and Tomáš Garrigue Masaryk Square.
