Pardubice – Pardubice is fighting against the fact that they did not receive a grant from the National Sports Agency (NSA) for the modernization of the summer football stadium. The problem was that the design and build method was used for the construction, where the same company handles both the design and the construction work. Pardubice appealed against the rejection of the grant to the NSA, said Deputy Mayor Jan Nadrchal to reporters today.
"We addressed their comments within the regular timeframe and are waiting for their decision. We are considering some further steps, looking into whether part of the costs could be considered ineligible and whether it would be possible to obtain some lower amount," Nadrchal stated.
Hradec Králové also failed in the grant call with a project for the construction of a multifunctional stadium costing 568 million crowns. Hradec has already sent a proposal to the agency to cancel the entire grant call, which amounts to 900 million crowns. According to Mayor Alexander Hrabálek (ODS), the grant call and the application evaluation process are in violation of legal regulations. "We are waiting for the agency's decision; alternatively, we can join Hradec and challenge the call," Nadrchal said.
Pardubice began renovating the summer stadium last December. After modernization, the stands on the individual cardinal sides will remain separate. The appearance of the historically protected western stand must be preserved. The stadium will have a capacity of 4,600 spectators and will meet the parameters for the first league. In the future, it would be possible to increase the seating capacity to 6,600 by completing the stands behind the goals and up to 8,000 by adding corners. The costs are expected to reach approximately 385 million crowns, of which about 185 million crowns was to be covered by the grant.
