Pardubice - The Pardubice City Hall has commissioned a study that addresses the future of the area near the summer stadium in the city center. Five options have been developed, proposing a hotel, housing, or a home for seniors. The demolition of the stadium is also being considered. The form of development in the area near the ČEZ Arena and Tyršovy gardens will be decided by local representatives. ČTK was informed by Mayor Štěpánka Fraňkov (Pardubice Association). "One option does not consider the summer stadium but focuses on residential development. However, the study best evaluates the option with a multifunctional building that addresses parking, the summer stadium, an ice rink, and is surrounded by commercial and office buildings,” said the mayor. All five options include the construction of a hotel complex with wellness and a conference hall, which could be located on the site of the currently demolished remains of the ČSTV sports hall, former slaughterhouses, and one empty plot. The study also proposes to build on an available lot at the intersection of Sukova Street and U Stadionu Street, where senior housing could be established. A new city hall could also be built in the area; currently, officials are accommodated in the central city hall and several other locations throughout the city. "The next step is up to the representatives. They must assess what and in what timeframe they want. We want to organize a seminar on this topic for them, so they can make decisions based on detailed knowledge and understanding of this issue. This topic will undoubtedly spark a wave of discussions among the public and politicians, so we do not want to underestimate anything,” stated Fraňková. The city is preparing a strategic and zoning plan, and its representatives should clarify how they want to manage this lucrative space. However, the future investor will not be the city hall. This could potentially involve a multi-billion investment, which some developer may compete for in the future. The return on the invested amount is estimated at 15 years, and construction could occur in phases rather than all at once. "The material is very comprehensive, and I believe it is of high quality. It should help the representatives in their decision-making,” said the mayor.
