Špindlerův Mlýn (Trutnov region) - Conservationists from the regional office of the National Heritage Institute in Josefov are working towards inscribing the famous Labská bouda in the Krkonošsko Mountains on the list of immovable monuments. They consider the lodge to be a modern building of its time. This was reported by today's Krkonošský deník. The controversial concrete colossus has stood on the ridges of the highest Czech mountains since the mid-1970s. The nine-story Labská bouda began construction in 1969 on the site of a burned-down mountain lodge and has been operational since November 1975. The hotel has a capacity of 120 guests and offers two restaurants. It is located not far from the source of the Elbe River at an altitude of 1,340 meters above sea level. The concrete mass of the building has evoked negative emotions from the public since its inception. The property was acquired during the privatization of the state-owned Interhotels Krkonošsko by the transport company Pumr & Ryba from Lázně Bělohrad in 1996. They attempted to sell the building for several years, negotiating with the state, which planned to buy and demolish the lodge. However, the sale fell through. Last year, the lodge was acquired by Salvario Holdings Limited, based in Cyprus. The operator and lessee of the lodge since last September is the company AEZZ, which also owns the Krkonošsko Luční bouda. AEZZ plans to modernize the property.
