Kutná Hora - The construction phase of the renovation of the Vlašský dvůr in Kutná Hora, which is the former mint and also the seat of the municipal office, has been completed. The exhibitions are still being finalized, and work continues in the park below the Vlašský dvůr, Mayor Josef Viktora (ANO) told ČTK today.
According to him, the building has passed inspection, but the workers have not yet left the Vlašský dvůr. They are working, among other things, in the park, where they should be finished by the end of May. The city hall had anticipated that the traditional Gothic festival of Royal Silvering with processions, knight tournaments, and dance or theater performances would take place in the renovated park this year. However, due to the coronavirus epidemic, this is not possible. "We had already signed a contract, but the event was canceled due to the situation," added Viktora.
The renovation of the Vlašský dvůr cost more than 120 million crowns. Most of it was covered by a European grant from the Integrated Regional Operational Program. People have been encountering workers in helmets in the hallways of the former mint and its surroundings since the summer of the year before last. The repairs disrupted the operations of the city hall, some floors were not passable, and earthworks in front of the building made it difficult for drivers to access the parking lot. Some officials had to move to temporary offices.
The Vlašský dvůr is a complex of buildings from the 13th and 14th centuries, and its history is connected with a rich deposit of silver. It likely got its name from the Italian masters that the king summoned from Florence.
