Prostějov - The construction of the national Olympic sports center in Prostějov is expected to cost approximately 110 million crowns, which is 20 million crowns less than originally anticipated. This follows from the offer of the company OHL ŽS, which won the tender. The CTK agency obtained this information today from the public procurement database. The new three-story multifunctional hall next to the ice rink will primarily serve tennis and volleyball players, but it can also be adapted for football or basketball.
National Olympic centers are to be gradually built with the help of state subsidies in Nymburk, Račice, Harrachov, Nové Město na Moravě, and Ostrava-Vítkovice.
The construction of the youth sports center in Prostějov will begin this year when the Ministry of Education releases the first 30 million crowns. The new multifunctional hall is to be built by the end of next year. The project was prepared by the Prostějov city hall in collaboration with the regional office and the Tennis Club Prostějov, where sports manager Miroslav Černošek is involved.
Three price offers were submitted for the tender for the construction of the national Olympic sports center in Prostějov, and the one from the construction company OHL ŽS was eventually evaluated as the best. The main weight in the decision-making process was the amount of the offered price.
The construction of the Olympic center will depend on state subsidies. According to the agreement reached, the Prostějov city hall will contribute land to the project, and the regional office funded the project.
The project preparation was recently officially challenged by entrepreneur Richard Benýšek. He disapproves of the fact that the Olomouc region, in its capacity as an administrative body, is deciding on the construction of the center in conjunction with the Prostějov city hall, while the municipalities also control the association that is building the center. According to Benýšek, this results in biased authorities, which he claims was evident in the handling of his objection.
The municipalities rejected Benýšek's criticism and stated that there can be no talk of bias. "The official bureaucracy reacted very quickly to our submission and dismissed the warning of bias. In any case, we have filed an administrative lawsuit in response. Let the administrative court decide,” said Benýšek to CTK today, expressing surprise at the speed with which the project of the Olympic center was prepared. "Half a year for zoning proceedings, building permit proceedings including obtaining legal force, and now a contractor has been selected. That almost contradicts the laws of physics,” he noted.
The hall will also be available for use by Prostějov schoolchildren and will serve some cultural events.
