Olomouc - The Olomouc regional authority will increase the contribution to the Museum of Art from the current 28 million to an estimated 35 million crowns annually. Deputy Governor Pavel Horák told ČTK that the reason is the new department of the museum, the Central European Forum. However, it is expected to be completed only in 2013, as it is currently struggling with land acquisition for construction. "The board discussed the contribution for the museum's operation based on a request from the Ministry of Culture; its amount still needs to be approved by the council," Horák stated. The Central European Forum was established by the culture ministers and state secretaries of the Visegrad Group in Olomouc as part of the Museum of Art in June this year. It aims to collect a synthesis of artistic expressions - visual, musical, film, and theater works from Central European countries, including Austria and Germany. However, the construction costing 500 million crowns is hindered by the acquisition of the last plot of land, which the Museum of Art and the Ministry of Culture are trying to obtain from the Nácar couple. The state is supposed to pay seven million crowns for their plot in the current gap on Denisova Street. Museum Director Pavel Zatloukal stated that the dispute is not over the price of the land but about how the price is structured. The Nácar family is to receive part of the money in cash and part as compensation in the form of a house on Kačení Street. The state intends to finance the construction of the Central European Forum through funds from the European Union, specifically from the Integrated Operational Program projects. The Museum of Art was managed by the Olomouc Region even before the completion of its branch of the Archdiocesan Museum. Due to the significant financial burden of the construction, which cost 270 million, and subsequent operation, it "returned" the museum to the state in 2006 with the understanding that it would contribute annually to the museum. The annual operating costs of the museum at that time amounted to 70 million crowns.
