Olomouc will repair the underpass near the university hospital

Olomouc - This year, the Olomouc City Hall will repair a vital underpass beneath Brněnská Street, through which hundreds of people pass daily heading to the public transport stops or the nearby university hospital. The reconstruction of the underpass will cost 13 million crowns, of which nearly 11 million crowns is to be obtained from the Integrated Regional Operational Program and the state budget.

"The strategic and heavily used underpass beneath Brněnská Street is already in an unsatisfactory technical condition, therefore its comprehensive reconstruction is necessary to ensure safety and barrier-free access," said Mayor Antonín Staněk (ČSSD) to ČTK.

The reconstruction of the underpass beneath Brněnská Street, used by residents of the adjacent housing estates as well as those heading to the university hospital, will begin in spring and is expected to be completed by the end of the summer holidays. The roofing and the entire underground structure of the passage, including lighting, will be repaired.

The city hall should pay for the repair of the underpass from its budget only about two million crowns. "The Integrated Regional Operational Program will provide us with a grant of 10.3 million crowns for the reconstruction of the underpass. We will receive an additional 600,000 crowns from the state budget," pointed out Deputy Mayor Ladislav Šnevajs (KDU-ČSL).
