Ledeč nad Sázavou (Havlíčkobrodsko) - In Ledeč nad Sázavou, people supported the reduction of the city heritage zone in a survey. Over 95 percent of the 1951 valid votes were in favor. The current area of the zone only satisfies 89 participants in the survey. The zone was declared ten years ago and, according to the town hall, restricts the owners of contemporary houses. The survey in Ledeč took place concurrently with the first round of the presidential election. The town hall published its results today.

Ledeč's town hall has been complaining about the delimitation of the zone for some time. According to them, the survey had a very good outcome. "For us, this is truly a very strong mandate to negotiate with the Ministry of Culture and, potentially, with the National Heritage Institute," said Mayor Petr Vaněk (ČSSD) to ČTK.
The heritage zone in Ledeč was established by a decree from the Ministry of Culture in April 2003. The council cannot change its boundaries. The mayor stated on the website that the city submitted a proposal for revision to the Ministry of Culture two years ago but received no significant response.
The National Heritage Institute (NPÚ) will address the Ledeč zone if prompted by the ministry. But the decision rests with the ministry, explained Martina Veselá from the Telč office of NPÚ to ČTK. According to her, a request to limit the city heritage zone is not common. "In the five years I have been here, I don't recall us doing this," she noted.
In the survey, 1979 votes were cast, of which 1951 were valid. 1862 residents of Ledeč were in favor of revising the zone, while 89 were against. Nearly 43 percent of registered voters participated in the survey. Almost 70 percent of people who attended the elections submitted a ballot.
According to the mayor, the zone in Ledeč is too wide and includes buildings from the 1980s; it bisects Haškova Street. Repairs to houses in the zone are reportedly becoming more expensive for residents without the possibility of obtaining subsidies.
