Rakovník - The residents of Rakovník will choose from three proposals on how to change a part of the city center called Na Sekyře. They will be able to express their opinions, for example, in a survey, and the results will be taken into account by a professional commission that will select the winning proposal. The city has already begun to renew the space by replacing the old railing with a new one, but in a historicizing style. This was reported by Alida Štulajterová, spokesperson for the Rakovník town hall.
"We contacted five architectural firms to request the creation of an ideational proposal for addressing this space. Three out of the five contacted firms submitted proposals to us," said the mayor of Rakovník, Pavel Jenšovský. Work on the modifications according to the selected proposal will begin at the end of the year, and it should be completed by mid-2017. The city estimates costs of about three million crowns.
Architects presented solutions to several problems to the city, such as the arrangement of parking spaces or whether the bus stop should be moved. The space should attract residents to stop and relax, with various types of seating and greenery among the proposals.
All proposals include a water feature that is intended to humidify the air in the city center during the summer months. People can find the complete form and description of the proposals on the city’s website. They can submit their comments until April 30th.
