Rožnov pod Radhoštěm - The restoration of the Libušín chalet at Pustevny, which was built in 1899 according to the design of architect Dušan Jurkovič and burned down four years ago, is continuing even in winter. Libušín is winterized, with windows in some openings and plastic sheeting in others, so that work can continue, and work is currently being done on the distribution of utility networks. This was stated by Milan Gesierich, the technical deputy of the Wallachian Museum in Nature in Rožnov pod Radhoštěm, which manages the building. Heating should be operational in Libušín after the New Year. The restoration is expected to be completed by the end of next year.
"We are currently working on the installations of fire protection systems, heating, electricity, and low-voltage systems. It looks like the work will not be interrupted at all. We would like to start heating with the new system using heat pumps, which are already ready, after the New Year. There are 12 boreholes, 150 meters deep, and the technology, which is in the cellars under Libušín, is currently being finished," said Gesierich.
In spring, according to him, further work on the interior and painting should continue. "We have already selected a company for the kitchen and the service counters; we are now selecting for the interior," added Gesierich.
The work is expected to be completed around October, after which the interior will be equipped with gastronomy appliances and furniture, and the building could be approved by the end of the year. The construction of the new Libušín began last June. The restoration is expected to cost 100 million crowns.
After the restoration, Libušín will have slightly different colors, returning to its form in 1925, when all its parts were completed. The body of the building will be lighter, and the shades of colors will change; the red will not be as prominent as before, and the previous white will have a slight yellowish tint.
Similarly, the appearance of the neighboring object Maměnka, which was also designed by Jurkovič, is changing. "We divided it into two phases; this year was one phase, Maměnka is complete from the southern and western sides, and next year the northern and eastern sides will be worked on so that both buildings can be in their full glory," said Gesierich.
