Brno – The Futurum shopping center, located in Brno near the highway to Vienna, will undergo reconstruction and expansion next year. The owner, the Brno company Trikaya, plans to invest 300 million crowns. After the renovation, the center will offer 3,000 m² of rental space for shops and services, said Alexej Veselý, the company's CEO, in a press release. According to him, the building's operation will be more environmentally friendly.

"We are trying to adapt to the new habits of visitors to shopping centers, such as the preference for a greater variety of services and activities in one place. In addition to shops, we will also expand the dining zone, where alongside the existing fast food outlets, classic full-service restaurants will be added," said Veselý. A trampoline park will also open this Saturday. This is intended to signal that the center's owner is trying to focus primarily on families with children.

The main tenant will remain the retail chain Tesco, which replaced Carrefour here years ago. Some fashion brands will also be added.

The building will be more energy-efficient after the renovation thanks to modern technologies. "There will be a solar power plant on the roof. Visitors will also be able to use charging stations for electric cars," Veselý stated.

Trikaya has owned Futurum since last year, and the annual footfall is around 3.2 million people. The current area, excluding Tesco, is 16,700 m², with 70 rental units.
