Prague - The Open House Festival, which annually showcases normally inaccessible buildings, will join an international event held online over the weekend. Through a forty-eight-hour nonstop live online broadcast, viewers will be taken to more than 40 cities on five continents. The organizers of the domestic showcase will participate in the festival with a video broadcast at the conclusion of the festival on Sunday at 11:00 PM. They will present three Prague buildings reflecting the history of the modern Czech state: the Church of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, the Congress Centre Prague, and the Dancing House.

The Open House Worldwide festival is accessible for free and will be streamed on websites as well as in an event on Facebook. Contributions from individual cities will primarily be available in the original language with English subtitles.

During the festival, which has been held in the Czech Republic for five years, normally inaccessible historical and industrial monuments, modern office and residential buildings, architecturally interesting palaces, villas, cemeteries, theaters, train stations, and university buildings will open exceptionally and free of charge. The festival was originally scheduled for May but was moved to early September due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Some buildings could not participate in the event due to measures against the coronavirus.

Nevertheless, the organizers decided to join the global festival, which will start at midnight from Friday to Saturday, November 14, coordinated universal time, which is 1:00 AM on Saturday Central European Time. The festival program, in the form of tours, panel discussions, and short films and documentaries, is divided into several thematic blocks that address current issues in contemporary architecture and urbanism.

Open House Worldwide will touch on the problems people face worldwide in relation to architecture and environmental creation - from climate change to housing and mobility, public space, social life in cities, to global design and cultural heritage.

The concept of the Open House festival originated in London in 1992. Due to its success, the festival has gradually expanded to more than 40 cities around the world.
