Prague - Private owners of listed buildings in Prague 1 did not show much interest this year in contributions from the local council for the repair of minor elements of their properties. The council had a budget of a million crowns for this purpose. It is now clear that several hundred thousand crowns will remain unspent, Mayor Vladimír Vihan told reporters today. The fact that not all the funds were allocated this year is attributed by the mayor to last year's decision that one owner may only submit one application per year. "Perhaps that is also why the funds were not fully utilized," Vihan said. After this year's first round of the grant process, the council has over 600,000 crowns remaining, according to him. In the current second round, the council will allocate 300,000 crowns to applicants. "We received fewer applications than we thought," Vihan noted. More than 300,000 crowns will not be spent. Owners of listed buildings have been able to receive grants from the council for several years for the restoration of house signs, portals, fittings, decorative stuccoes, grilles, doors, roofing elements, and other minor architectural features.
