On Tuesday, September 20, 2022, at 3:00 PM, a meeting of the academic community of the Faculty of Architecture, VUT will be held in the auditorium of the Faculty of Architecture (room A310) at Poříčí 5 in Brno, where the candidates for the appointment of Dean of the Faculty of Architecture, VUT for the term 2022-26 will be introduced, present their election programs, and answer questions from the attending members of the academic community of the Faculty of Architecture, VUT.

Ing.arch. Radek Suchánek, Ph.D.

Radek Suchánek (*1976 Zlín) is a graduate of the master's and doctoral studies at the Faculty of Architecture, VUT. During his doctoral studies, he completed a one-year internship at Sint-Lucas Gent. His professional activity has two main branches: the professional activity of a practicing architect and activities related to pedagogical and scientific work at the Faculty of Art and Architecture of the Technical University of Liberec. At FUA TUL, he leads studios, bachelor's, master's, and doctoral theses. He headed the Department of Architecture and the Department of Urbanism, which he also founded. Since 2018, he has been the Vice-Rector of TUL for development and external relations.

Karin Písaříková (*1981 Brno) operates as an external educator at the Faculty of Arts, MU in Brno, and is also active as a curator and exhibits actively. This year, she presented her project in Kaunas as part of the European Capital of Culture 2022, and since September, she has been a resident at BAiR in the House of Lords from Kunštát. Last year, she was included in a group exhibition at the House of Art Now and Here, mapping the contemporary artistic scene in Brno. In her pedagogical practice, she focuses on socially engaged art. Between 2008-2018, she lived in Japan, where she lectured at Joshibi University of Art and Design and graduated from Tama Art University; she is also a graduate of the Faculty of Fine Arts, VUT in Brno.

Milan Rak (*1967 Náchod) studied architecture at the Faculty of Architecture of the Brno University of Technology. After completing his studies in 1991, he continued with doctoral studies and defended his dissertation in 2000. Since 2001, he has collaborated with the Brno Faculty of Architecture within state examination commissions and has also led studio teaching and bachelor’s and diploma theses. From 2009 to 2011, he worked at the Faculty of Art and Architecture of the Technical University of Liberec as the head of the architecture studio. In 2013, he defended his habilitation thesis at the Faculty of Architecture, VUT in Brno, and was appointed associate professor in the field of architecture. Shortly after completing his studies, he founded his own architectural office, ARCHTEAM, in 1992, in which he has been the chief architect for all of the studio’s projects ever since. Most of his projects were realized based on winning architectural competitions. For his work, he has achieved several significant national and international awards, repeatedly winning the Grand Prix of Architects - National Award for Architecture, and he is also a two-time laureate of the INTERNATIONAL ARCHITECTURE AWARDS, awarded by the Museum of Architecture and Design Chicago. Milan Rak has been a licensed architect with general authority since 1995, and in 2008, he was appointed to the Academy of Architecture by the Czech Chamber of Architects and the Society of Architects. Milan Rak is also dedicated to promoting and supporting architecture within the non-profit organization ARCHTEAM INSTITUTE OF MODERN ARCHITECTURE, z.ú. and his own lecture series BUILD! DEMOLISH?
