Nový Jičín – Nový Jičín will repair the extension of the Beskydy Theater for 17.5 million crowns. The building's structure is compromised in a section, so the ceiling panels need to be reinforced with steel cables. The work will last until the end of November. This was reported to ČTK by the spokesperson for the Nový Jičín Town Hall, Marie Machková.

"In a part of the modern extension of the Beskydy Theater, which dates back to the second half of the 1980s, the reinforced concrete ceiling panels are sagging, causing partitions to crack and threatening utility lines. The assessment by structural engineers determined the necessity for reconstruction," said the director of the Beskydy Theater, Pavel Bártek.

Reinforcement of the load-bearing structures using steel cables will take place in the small stage, scenery workshop, offices, and staff apartment. "In order for the construction work to be carried out, it will be necessary to demolish all partitions and dismantle part of the theater equipment," Machková stated. However, the construction work will also partially affect the large stage, as holes will need to be drilled into one of the stage walls for the reinforcing cables.

"After the additional strengthening of the ceiling panels is completed, new partitions will be constructed, and electrical, water, air conditioning, and heating systems will be installed, along with additional furnishing items," stated Michal Hub from the city's department of development and investments.
