Olomouc – The article of a bicycle chain resembles the shape of the new bicycle storage in the area of the University Hospital in Olomouc, which can now be used by the employees of this largest healthcare facility in the Olomouc Region. "Thanks to the new bicycle storage, the overall capacity of equipped and secured places for storing bicycles in the hospital area will increase to approximately 200 places," said FN Olomouc spokesman Adam Fritscher today to ČTK.
The new bicycle storage with translucent walls made of corrugated fiberglass in the courtyards of hospital buildings O and P can accommodate a total of 43 bicycles, according to Fritscher. The unique design of the bicycle storage was created by architect Adam Rujbr. Bicycle storages also operate at four other locations within FN Olomouc. "There are plans to build another storage near the Theoretical Institutes of the Faculty of Medicine at Palacký University," noted Fritscher.
According to the director of FN Olomouc, Roman Havlík, the new bicycle storage is part of a long-term support of active health for both patients and employees. "Cycling is an ideal physical activity for commuting to work and a significant alternative to the increasingly dense car traffic. With the construction of the bicycle storage, we support the idea of sustainable mobility. We strive to create a comfortable environment for employees to park their bikes, and we believe this will create new motivation for employees to commute to work by bike," Havlík stated.
FN Olomouc is the sixth largest hospital in the Czech Republic. The facility has fifty departments, nearly 1200 beds, and approximately 4200 healthcare and non-healthcare employees.
