Nová Paka (Jičínsko) - Nová Paka in the Jičín region wants to start construction of a covered swimming pool next April at a cost of approximately 65 million crowns. The construction could be completed in 2015, the mayor Rudolf Cogan said today to ČTK. The town hall originally planned to begin construction this autumn. However, it canceled the announced tender in which ten construction companies had applied. "One of the candidates appealed, and we agreed with their arguments and are continuing with the tender," said Cogan. The town hall wants to sign a contract with the company as soon as possible after a decision on the winner, with construction expected to start on April 1. The pool in Nová Paka will be located near the Elementary School on Husitská Street, offering swimming enthusiasts four 25-meter lanes. The construction will also include a children's pool, steam room, and jacuzzi. An outdoor pool and summer terrace will also be part of the project. The town hall previously stated that the pool will be free for schools and kindergartens, and the city expects the subsidies for pool operations to be around two million crowns per year. The town halls in the Hradec Králové Region have built several pools in recent years; for example, since 2010, the swimming pool in Rychnov nad Kněžnou has been available to the public. The construction cost approximately 169 million crowns and, in addition to a 25-meter long swimming pool with five lanes for swimmers, it also offers a pool for small children, a slide, and other facilities.
