Nesvačilka (Brno Region) – Just around the corner is the Night of Churches, which will take place in various churches, including the newly built chapel (filial church) of Our Lady of Sorrows in Nesvačilka in the Brno region, on Friday, June 7th, from 5 to 6:30 PM.
The impressive building, which has been in the sights of many tourists and pilgrims in recent years and enjoys great publicity, was consecrated on May 8th this year after ten years. It is a combination of modern architecture with medieval craftsmanship techniques and rises from nature: at the bottom is a floor made of tamped earth, above it is a stone plinth, and between it and the tower is a lamellar tube made of wood, while the ceiling bears seven hand-carved wooden beams. The furnishings inside are rustic, echoing the character of the surrounding landscape and culture. In addition to an orchard, an avenue leading to the chapel has also been added. Funds are now being raised for new organs and the completion of the furnishings.
