Prague - The name of architect Václav Aulický has recently appeared in the media mainly in connection with the demolished complex of buildings Transgas in the center of Prague, of which he is a co-author. However, his most famous work is the television tower in Prague's Žižkov district. Other realizations include the completion of high-rise buildings in the Pankrác plain in Prague and the telephone exchange building in Prague-Dejvice. Václav Aulický will celebrate his seventy-fifth birthday on March 1.

A representative of so-called high-tech architecture, Aulický graduated from the Faculty of Civil Engineering at the Czech Technical University in Prague. The first significant project he was involved in was the construction of the Transit Gas Pipeline facility in Prague's Vinohrady. In 1974, he joined the company Spojprojekt Prague, where he was responsible for the construction of the television transmitter in Ostrava-Hošťálkovice and telephone exchanges in Prague-Dejvice and Hradec Králové.

In the late 1970s, Aulický was entrusted with the project for a television transmitter for Prague. The distinctive building, evoking a rocket ready for launch, was built in Mahler's gardens from 1985 to 1992. In addition to Aulický, structural engineer Jiří Kozák also significantly contributed to the technical solution of the 216-meter high tower made of steel and concrete.

Later, Aulický, a Prague native, worked on the designs of several commercial and residential buildings. He is, among other things, credited with the design of the Czech Insurance Company complex in Prague's Pankrác, the administrative center Karlín, and the other Prague building Diamond Point at Těšnov. Since 2005, Aulický has been lecturing at the Faculty of Architecture at the Czech Technical University, where he also achieved his habilitation as an associate professor.
