Napajedla (Zlín Region) - Napajedla in the Zlín Region today completed the renovation of the city center. The third phase, carried out by the town hall, concluded several years of modifications to public areas and roads in the heritage zone, said Mayor Irena Brabcová to ČTK today. The courtyard of the town hall has been paved, and a stage has been added; the space will serve various events. Adjacent to it is an upgraded area in front of the cinema, and next to the town hall is a new parking lot, while the area of the former technical services has also undergone changes. It serves as a support area for cyclists riding along the Morava River and the Baťa Canal. The work began in spring, and the third phase of the project "Our Napajedla - a city for life" cost 24 million crowns. "The previous two phases each also cost around 25 million crowns. About 70 percent was always covered by grants from the Regional Operational Program," the mayor added. The city center has gained additional spaces for cultural events and public gatherings. According to Brabcová, the goal was to create a peaceful place next to the park, as Napajedla Square is trafficked and heavily burdened by traffic. The nearby area of the former technical services has also been renovated, primarily serving cyclists from the frequently used bike path. The area is now bordered by a fence made from leftover bicycles. "We collected about 300 bicycles in total, and the fence is made from them," stated the mayor. The city of seven thousand has repaired parking areas in the center, roads on the square, relocated a memorial, and reconstructed streets such as Komenského Street.
