Most - The Czech Railways Administration will repair the main station building in Most. The passenger area will be redesigned, the technical condition of the building will be improved, and safety will be increased. The costs are around 685 million crowns. Nela Friebová, spokesperson for the Czech Railways Administration (SŽ), told ČTK.

The project plan was approved by the Central Commission of the Ministry of Transport, and preparation for the subsequent documentation to obtain a building permit will now begin. "The planned reconstruction will bring higher quality and representation of public space, reduced energy consumption, and last but not least, increased comfort and safety for passengers," said the spokesperson.

The construction will be divided into four phases, taking into account the planned reconstruction of the railway station and the adjacent bus terminal, among other things.

Work will begin with a zero phase, which does not require a building permit. "This involves adjustments and maintenance work in the departure hall. Currently, the project for the construction implementation is being finalized. Work should start in the coming months," Friebová said.

In the first phase, the reconstruction will continue in the departure hall, where the stairs will be adjusted and new escalators will be installed. A separate access to the elevator will be created, ensuring barrier-free access to the first platform and the underpass. Another barrier-free access will be from the new parking lot. There will be new benches, trash bins, and an information board.

In the second phase of construction, the upper part of the building and the arrival hall will be modified. Commercial spaces for a buffet, restaurant, and other supplementary services and shops will be the subject of the third phase of reconstruction. In the final, fourth phase, the builders will focus, among other things, on the construction of a new parking lot and areas for cyclists, which will have bike racks and bike boxes allowing for the charging of e-bikes. The building will remain accessible during the entire realization period with limitations, but will provide all services for passengers.
