Most - The train station in Most will be repaired by the Administration of Railway Transport (SŽDC) in two years. It plans to insulate the shell of the 40-year-old building and modify the area in front of the complex. The costs are estimated at nearly 200 million crowns.
The station in Most was built in the 1970s. In the mining town, it was expected that up to four thousand people would pass through it daily, which is why it was designed as a system of halls and a tall service building. "The estimated costs for the station's reconstruction are around 146 million crowns, while the total cost is 198 million crowns, which includes the costs for the project, modifications to the area in front of the station, and similar expenses," said SŽDC spokesman Marek Illiaš to ČTK.
The most significant change for passengers will be a comfortable access. The entire complex is to be barrier-free, and escalators will be installed. "The spaces for our employees will also be modernized, the building will receive new fire protection, and facilities for modern traffic control technologies will also be newly built," the spokesman stated.
The fifteen-story service building included offices, sleeping quarters for railway employees, and service apartments. The administration will also likely address its utilization and the filling of the halls, which were generously designed in their interior by architect Josef Danda. The cladding is made of sandstone, marble, and glass.
Next year, SŽDC aims to have the project documentation completed, and from 2020 to 2022, work should take place on the actual reconstruction. The repair is part of selected major projects of the administration for the next four years. In the Ústí region, SŽDC is also planning the repair of the station in Lovosice, which could start next year. It will cost approximately 60 million crowns.
