On Bear Mountain in the Jeseníky Mountains, a new lookout tower has been opened

Šumperk - Tourists can enjoy the view of the Jeseníky ridges from the new lookout tower on Medvědí hill near Loučná nad Desnou in the Šumperk region, which has been recently opened by the state enterprise Lesy ČR (Forests of the Czech Republic). The grand opening of the lookout tower is scheduled for spring next year, but it is already open to the public, said LČR spokesman Zbyněk Boublík today.
    The new lookout tower near the Tetra tree lodge on Medvědí hill is 18 meters tall. The tower consists of a steel supporting structure including stairs, anchored into a concrete foundation. The building has a footprint of 4.1 meters by 4.1 meters and has wooden cladding. "The view from various heights is enhanced by a system of openings and balconies in the outer shell of the building," Boublík stated.
    Medvědí hill is part of the Kouty ski area, which operates not far from Loučná nad Desnou. "The lookout tower is located 40 meters from the cable car station," Boublík said.
    The lookout tower was approved at the end of October and people can already use it. "The tower will only be closed in case of unfavorable weather conditions, such as ice or storms," Boublík pointed out.
    Next to the wooden terrace and ski bar, Lesy ČR is now completing the construction of a technical building on Medvědí hill, which will include new facilities for tourists and visitors. "The commissioning of the building is tentatively planned for the beginning of the new ski season," Boublík added.
    The state enterprise LČR has not yet disclosed the cost of building the new lookout tower. "The costs will be published only at the time of the grand opening of the tower in the spring of next year, when they will be fully accounted in the financial records and their total amount will be completely clear," Boublík said.
