Czech designers from the studio mmcité1 and the SAD atelier jointly designed and realized the mobile gazebo Pinecone, which, due to its scales, resembles a pine cone. This unique object is environmentally friendly and can serve not only to provide peace and privacy in public spaces, but also as a refuge for children's games, summer campfires, a classroom, or a meditation room. The progressive approach of the two successful design studios, mmcité1 and the SAD atelier, which are eager to embark on bold designs and often exceed architectural and design boundaries, is demonstrated by their joint realization of a multifunctional gazebo reminiscent of a pine cone in its shape. The object aptly named Pinecone can easily replace not only a garden or park gazebo but can also serve as a covered bonfire, sandbox, or an outdoor classroom for more than 25 children. "In general, we enjoy the boundaries that sometimes need to be broken and pushed further when designing products. The Pinecone project was a great challenge for us because it is not a straightforward product. It is primarily a structure for multifunctional use, whether for parks or schools. It hovers on the edge of design and architecture and can also serve as a meditation room," explains David Karásek from the studio mmcité. The Pinecone object is a self-supporting structure made of 109 scales from waterproof plywood covered with joined galvanized joints with powder-coated finish. Due to the mutual rotation of the scales, the gazebo appears airy, it has a pleasant microclimate, perfect acoustics, and simultaneously provides a refuge from the sun and wind. The surface treatment of the scales covered with durable glaze ensures long-lasting durability in any weather. The gazebo is easily transportable and can be assembled in one day.
