Mladá Boleslav - A music club, modernized theater hall, clubs for children and teenagers, and more parking spaces are to be brought by the reconstruction of the Mladá Boleslav House of Culture. The modifications are set to begin approximately next year and will be spread over two years. This was announced by Deputy Mayor Daniel Marek. The costs have not yet been calculated, but the city estimates approximately 80 to 90 million crowns, including the restoration of the building's facade.

The House of Culture will feature multifunctional clubrooms, rehearsal rooms, a music club, spaces for the youngest children, and facilities for mothers, as well as a club for teenagers. The modernized theater hall will be equipped with better technology, which will also enable higher quality film projections.

An elevator will also be created, along with a literary café, and the restaurant will be renovated. The first floor will no longer include a library or conference facilities as proposed by previous architectural studies, but the current mirror hall will be enhanced. Thus, a multifunctional lecture hall with a capacity of up to 80 people should be created, and exhibition spaces are also being considered.

The outer facade and the immediate surroundings of the house will also undergo renovation. The capacity of the parking lot is expected to be doubled. The reconstruction will take about two years, but the city does not plan to completely close the house due to this. It wants to allow events during the ball season, for example. Modifications will be financed from its own budget and possibly a loan, and it will attempt to obtain a grant for reducing the energy demands of the building.

According to Deputy Mayor Marek, the city's leadership arrived at the current renovation plan after discussions with current and potential users of the cultural house, based on discussion forums and materials in the form of two architectural studies from the University of Liberec, which were also presented in April at a public forum. "At this moment, a third variant is being drawn up, which includes the best of the two presented studies. It no longer addresses the relocation of the library to the House of Culture; however, it does consider some form of literary café, which we are still discussing with representatives of the library," the deputy added.

According to Marek, the city leadership had a vision of the future shape of the cultural house from the beginning, but did not want to decide from the desk, but only after discussion with the public. "Based on these inputs, the brief for the architectural studies we presented was created," the deputy described the preparations for the modifications.
