Děčín - The city of Děčín wants to invest more than 5.5 million crowns into a new ceremony hall in the premises of the former city library in the municipal building at Mírové náměstí. The possibility of building a new ceremony hall at Děčín Castle was ultimately rejected by the city due to insufficient parking capacities and difficult access for the disabled. This was stated today by the city spokesperson Luděk Stínil.

The project implementation is planned for this year. Companies can apply for the tender for the interior construction modifications of the new ceremony hall until Monday. "The contract is divided into two parts: construction work and the supply of furniture for the interior of the hall," the spokesperson specified. The design of the new ceremony hall was created in collaboration with architects. "The city, following the recommendation of the city architect, contacted two architectural firms to develop a design for the new ceremonial space. Based on further comments, the selected design was modified," Stínil noted.

One of the advantages of the new ceremony hall is that it will be separate from the main entrance to the municipality, which is a problem with the existing ceremony hall. The current hall is located opposite the registry office, and during the municipality's operational hours, couples have limited and cramped space. It will also offer better facilities for officiants, couples, and guests, larger capacity rooms, parking in front of the building, and barrier-free access. "The new ceremony hall will also primarily serve for weddings, however, it will also be possible to use it for other ceremonial occasions, such as welcoming newborns, anniversary weddings, or receiving distinguished guests," added the Deputy Mayor of Děčín for Development, Vladislav Raška (Our Děčín). The project also accounts for the existing ceremony hall to serve as a contact room for the public in the future.

Annually, around 200 couples get married in Děčín. If they get married in the Děčín ceremony hall at the municipality, there is no fee. "On the other hand, for a ceremony at another location, such as the castle, a fee of 1000 crowns must be paid to the municipality, plus a fee to the castle according to its price list must also be paid. If the couples choose a more distant location for their ceremony, they will incur additional costs to the city of 2,420 crowns for the trip," Stínil added.
