The beginning of September will mark the premiere of a documentary about the significant functionalist building in Prague, Mánes – Mánes on Water, by screenwriter and director Vladimír Škultéty. The film connects the history of the building from its establishment during the First Republic to its recent reconstruction. The significant gallery and social center changed its use according to cultural needs and social conditions of the respective period due to historical changes. The reconstructed form of the building is currently searching for its content again.
The film combines time-lapse monitoring of the reconstruction with a wealth of archival documentary and fictional materials. It records the opinions of architects, gallery owners, artists, curators, and other individuals often associated with the architecturally exceptional Mánes, which is one of the most well-known symbols of Prague. The documentary was made from 2012, starting from the preparations for the reconstruction, to its partial occupancy approval and opening to the public. Throughout its production, the film maintained its absolute independence and the creators' artistic perspective. For a long time, it could be created thanks to the financial support of producer Ivo Krátký from Bio Art Production, and later Czech Television became a co-producer, with support also coming from the Magistrate of the Capital City of Prague. The director chose cinematographer Gašper Šnuderla and editor Črt Brajnik, with whom he had already created several audiovisual projects. In 2010, Vladimír Škultéty, together with producer Petr Koza, made a documentary titled Longplay about the design of music packaging, for which they received an award at the Arts and Film festival in Telč.

The public premiere will take place on September 2, 2015, at 8:30 PM at the Summer Cinema on Střelecký Island. Tickets can be obtained through Ticketstream.cz or at the box office of the Summer Cinema Střelecký Island.
