The town of Litomyšl in the Svitavy region will establish the position of garden architect. He will participate in the new concept of greenery in the town. The function is to be held by Zdenek Sendler, who is a co-author of the appearance of the local monastery gardens. This was stated to reporters today by Deputy Mayor Michal Kortyš (ODS). "We want to start from scratch, create a new master plan for greenery, describe the locations, create a maintenance plan, and determine where to plant further. The Park of Youth already deserves revitalization; we want a sensitive renewal of old trees, and there should be greenery in the industrial zone that would humanize the area," stated Kortyš. The town does not have a city architect in a permanent employment position, but architect Zdena Vydrová has long been collaborating externally with the town hall. The garden architect is to have a similar type of contract. According to Sendler, Litomyšl should have a uniform concept in the given locations, whether it concerns public or private projects. He considers the eleven-thousand-strong Litomyšl to be a model city where many things have been successful. "When I look at the works of architects Aleš Burian, Josef Pleskot, Zdena Vydrová, Petr Pelčák with Petr Hrůša, those are gems that Brno can hardly put together," said the Brno architect to ČTK. Sendler has created the appearance of the area at the bus station and transformed the monastery gardens - this urban park in the historic part of Litomyšl is characterized by simplicity. It has existed for 15 years. "The park offers recreation with a reference to history. We conceived it so that it does not require costly renovation and maintenance does not decimate the municipal treasury," said Sendler.
