Moravský Krumlov - People who are walking from Moravský Krumlov to Prague since Friday to protest for the preservation of painter Alfonse Mucha's canvases arrived in Jihlava today as planned. On Monday, they will head towards Pelhřimov. There is interest in the event; new supporters are still signing up, said Vladimir Kuchař today on behalf of the organizers and participants of the march to ČTK. The famous Mucha's Slav Epic is to be moved to Prague, which many residents of Moravský Krumlov oppose. On Friday, around two hundred people gathered in Moravský Krumlov to keep the canvases at least until Prague supposedly builds the promised exhibition pavilion for them. In total, the defenders of the canvases want to walk 310 kilometers from Krumlov to Prague. They are marching in a relay style, with people passing the petition along the segments of the route. "Today we arrived in Jihlava. On Monday morning we will set off towards Pelhřimov, in the afternoon we aim to reach about halfway towards Vlašim," Kuchař said in the evening. According to him, the segments of the march vary in length for each group of people, averaging about ten kilometers. The group is expected to reach Prague on Wednesday, and on Thursday morning they plan to demonstrate in front of the city hall, where the Prague council will be in session. Mucha's Slav Epic belongs to Prague and was loaned to Moravský Krumlov decades ago because the capital did not have suitable spaces for it. The Gallery of the Capital City of Prague wants to close the Krumlov exhibition in the castle, which currently houses 15 out of 20 canvases, by the end of October. In November, it plans to transfer all the paintings to Prague. The gallery has not yet confirmed where the canvases will be exhibited. Earlier, there were talks about the Exhibition Grounds and the riding hall in Pohořelec. Recently, a proposal emerged to place the epic in the Art Nouveau Fantova building at Prague's main railway station.
