Liberec - Liberec will pay 40.3 million crowns for the reconstruction of the former Linser foundry into a creative center. Work is expected to begin at the end of summer and finish by mid-next year. The Deputy Mayor Šárka Prachařová (ANO) informed journalists about this today.

The city council chose the company that will renovate the dilapidated building in the lower center through a repeated tender. No one applied in the first round, so the city's leadership increased the maximum permissible price of the contract, which, including tax, meant an increase from 37.5 to 43.6 million. "Two companies applied to us, and we chose Instav with a total bid price of 33.365 million (excluding tax). Originally, we had 31 million (maximum price excluding tax), then we increased it by five million in the second round, so we got somewhere between that," said Prachařová.

The city also increased the contract price due to being under time pressure. If they had not found a contractor even in the second round, they risked losing a subsidy from the National Recovery Plan. The city has been promised 31 million crowns for the reconstruction of Linserka from this fund.

The former foundry on Resslova Street is the last remnant of an industrial complex founded in 1858 by Christian Linser. Today, it is a dilapidated building used only occasionally. The municipal building is awaiting a complete reconstruction, and the city aims to return the original atmosphere of the industrial structure of the former factory. "I believe that once completed, a truly unique creative space will emerge not only for young creators, artists, or architects but also as a quality social and inspiring center for the general public," said earlier Jiří Janďourek (Starostové pro Liberecký kraj), the deputy for architecture, public space, and transport construction.
