Kuřim (Brno region) - Kuřim in the Brno region opened a covered aquapark yesterday, the construction of which cost 167.5 million crowns. It is the largest facility of its kind in southern Moravia. It was created from the reconstruction and significant expansion of the original covered baths. It now consists of five pools, and the facility includes beer baths with a tap, a sauna, a gym, a fitness room, and there is also a restaurant, said Kuřim mayor Oldřich Štarha (ODS) to ČTK. The original indoor pool was outdated and interest in it was declining. The building was interesting in that it had a retractable roof, which had to be removed during recent renovations. The building was expanded with an annex. It features a large relaxation pool with a lazy river, a slide, and a whirlpool. There is a children's pool and a small pool for preschoolers with a play area. Originally, project costs were expected to be higher. However, the city saved four million crowns, which were returned to the municipal treasury. "We borrowed 100 million crowns for the project, which we should pay off within 15 years," Štarha stated. The new facility has a daily capacity of 770 bathers. It will serve not only Kuřim and its surroundings but also the southern part of nearby Blanensko and northern Brno. The baths should also attract swimming enthusiasts who travel to it from as far as Laa an der Thaya in Austria. A special honey beer bath is part of the complex. The beer Kvasar from a local brewery in Sentice is used as an ingredient. This golden liquid is available not only for bathing but guests can also pour it directly from the water into a glass. According to experts, the beer bath has beneficial effects on skin and complexion quality. It is said to positively influence heart function and blood circulation.
