Krnov - The Krnov municipality wants to revitalize the public spaces around the pilgrimage site of Cvilín, where there is, for example, a recently renovated stone lookout tower and the Baroque Church of Our Lady of Seven Sorrows and the Exaltation of the Holy Cross. The project, estimated to be worth up to 15 million crowns, will focus on, among other things, the repair of hiking trails. The spokesperson for the city, Dita Círová, said this to ČTK today.

"The pilgrimage site of Cvilín, which is a dominant feature of Krnov, is located on the Front Cvilín Hill. It reaches an elevation of 441 meters. The first signs of settlement in Krnov were found here, dating back to the older Stone Age. Therefore, it is essential to pay attention to the restoration of this excursion site and its preservation for future generations," added Vendula Štifnerová, head of the Department of Strategic Planning and Projects.

According to her, the space adjustment will primarily focus on the renovation of hiking trails, the restoration and design of new resting areas and viewpoints, including all accompanying furniture. The first phase includes a new solution for parking, stops, and a turnaround for public transport, as well as the construction of public toilets.

The costs for preparing the project are around 700,000 crowns, while the actual implementation is estimated to be between five and 15 million crowns. The city will also seek other funding options besides the city budget. Work is set to begin next year.
