Pardubice - Pardubice Crematorium, where the film The Cremator was shot, will open its doors to the public. On Sunday, October 28, from 10 AM to 4 PM, tours of the large and small ceremonial halls and current cremation technologies will be available for interested visitors. It will be accompanied by an expert commentary, projections, and recorded music. CTK was informed about this by the spokesperson for Pardubice, Vendula Fižová. The round cubistic building has been a national cultural monument since the year before last. The film The Cremator by Juraj Herz was filmed in the Pardubice crematorium in 1968, and the guides will also take interested visitors to the areas where the famous film was made. "The building, designed by architect Pavel Janák, was completed in 1923 by the company of Karel Kohout and Jaroslav Krupař. The ceremonial hall is decorated with paintings by Professor Josef Kysela. Since 1998, the crematorium building has been owned by the joint-stock company Služby města Pardubic," Fižová stated. The company subsequently began the gradual construction and technical restoration of the crematorium, which was completed in 2009. The building was repaired and new technological elements were installed, including an elevator for immobile ceremony visitors. A small ceremonial hall and dignified spaces for mourners were also created.
