Beautiful Lípa in Děčín has become the owner of the valued Dittrich mausoleum

Krásná Lípa – The town of Krásná Lípa in the Děčín region has become the owner of the mausoleum of the Dittrich family. The valued tomb was purchased by the municipality from the insolvency administrator for 10,000 crowns. The procedure for its preservation will be addressed by the councilors at the next meeting, the city leadership informed on the website.

The municipality became the owner of the building according to the statement from the town hall after lengthy administrative delays. Krásná Lípa purchased the mausoleum in the spring. Its renovation was started years ago by the Omnium association, which encountered financial problems. The town intends to continue the preservation of the monument with the help of experts, mayor Jan Kolář (Sdružení 2022) stated earlier to ČTK. The town plans to apply for a grant from the European IROP program.

Meanwhile, the town hall has commissioned the preparation of project documentation for the renovation. According to Kolář, the static stabilization of the building and the roofing of the structure must be completed as a priority. In the spring, the town cut down trees around the mausoleum that posed a risk of falling. The reconstruction of the mausoleum of the significant industrialist will take several years. The town would like to create an exhibition on the ground floor dedicated to the history of the Dittrich family.

The mausoleum was designed in 1886 by the Berlin architect Julius Carl Raschdorff, who is also the author of the tomb of German Emperor Friedrich III in Potsdam. The walls of the Krásná Lípa mausoleum are covered with glass blue-golden mosaics, and the technical infrastructure is also remarkable. The building includes a small boiler room, which made it possible to heat the mausoleum. The interior decoration was taken over by the native of Krásná Lípa, August Frind, but nothing of the paintings has survived. In 2006, the Ministry of Culture declared the Dittrich family mausoleum a cultural monument.
