Prague - The disputed construction of the Aviation Museum of Metoděj Vlach in Mladá Boleslav will be investigated by the police. The Central Bohemian representatives decided today to hand over the matter to detectives, reported CTK spokesperson Nicole Mertinová. The region did not receive a European grant for the project costing 150 million crowns, yet someone from the regional office nevertheless ordered the commencement of construction. "As the statutory representative of the Central Bohemian Region, I proposed notifying the Police of the Czech Republic about the circumstances that raise suspicions of a criminal offense," stated Governor Josef Řihák (ČSSD). He recalled that the project was supposed to be financed by the EU, but now the entire cost must be borne by the region from its budget. According to Řihák, someone from the office ordered the start of construction even before a decision was made regarding the allocation of a grant from the regional operational program, which the region ultimately did not receive. "The circumstances under which the order to begin construction was issued will now be investigated by the police," the governor added. In the past, he claimed to know who from the office approved the construction. However, he did not want to disclose their name. The construction of the museum at the airport in Boleslav is nearing completion. The exhibition is set to include around 30 historical airplanes from the collections of the Mladá Boleslav Foundation of Metoděj Vlach, private owners, as well as the National Technical Museum and the Kbely Aviation Museum. Non-functional exhibits will be suspended in the exhibition hangar, while airplanes will be available on the floor for those interested in flights. Visitors will have the opportunity to try out a three-dimensional simulator resembling the cockpit of a World War I fighter. There are also plans for a simulation of a jump from an aircraft, during which a person will be exposed to wind while being strapped in, with a projection of the approaching ground below. In the shaft of the twenty-meter observation tower, a real jump can be undertaken on a special winch. A modeling workshop is also being prepared for children.
