The region will expand the Home on the Silver Hill in Rokytnice with community housing

Rokytnice v Orlických horách (Rychnovsko) – Construction has begun in Rokytnice v Orlických horách in Rychnov for two houses for 12 clients of the Domov na Stříbrném vrchu at a cost of more than 44 million crowns excluding VAT. Most of the expenses will be covered by a grant from the National Recovery Plan (NPO). The construction work is expected to be completed in the autumn of 2025, said the county spokesman Dan Lechmann to ČTK. The new apartment buildings will be barrier-free, just like the two original buildings of the home, where the county ensured accessibility last year. The founder is the Královéhradecký kraj.

"The construction of community housing of a family type is part of our effort to relocate clients of residential social care services from large facilities to smaller types of housing. These houses will serve individuals with chronic mental illnesses for whom continuous care in a family-like environment is very important," said the deputy governor for social affairs Martina Berdychová.

Each family house will be divided into six separate rooms with a bathroom and toilet. In addition, both houses will have a shared living space with a kitchen, an outdoor terrace, and a room for caregivers. The complex will include a workshop for clients' occupational activities, a garden, parking for visitors, and other technical facilities and storage spaces. The estimated amount of construction expenses will exceed 44 million crowns excluding VAT, with the NPO grant covering about 37 million crowns.

The Domov na Stříbrném vrchu in Rokytnice v Orlických horách is a regional contribution organization. It operates a home with a special regime for people with reduced independence due to certain illnesses, a home for individuals with disabilities, and sheltered housing. It provides social rehabilitation services, such as training workshops and a training apartment. Its capacity is 62 beds, including 16 places in sheltered housing, and another 15 people use outpatient–day services.

In the area of the home, which was reconstructed between 2006 and 2008, there are four buildings, including two barrier-free ones. The home provides sheltered housing in Rokytnice v Orlických horách, Náchod, and Rychnov nad Kněžnou.

In recent years, the Královéhradecký kraj has been developing social care in the form of community housing for small groups of clients. It recently opened sheltered housing in Jičín and a community-style home for individuals with disabilities in Třebechovice pod Orebem and Roudnička in Hradec Králové. This year, the county began construction on another sheltered housing in Hradec Králové in Pražské Předměstí, and a family-type home for individuals with disabilities is being established in Nové Město nad Metují.
