Pardubice - The Pardubice Region will begin renovations of the interiors of the House of Music in the county town at the end of this year, which used to be the headquarters of the Communist Party of Bohemia and Moravia. During the year, the designers will prepare the documentation. The region will pay 33 million crowns for the first phase. This was stated by the Deputy Governor Roman Línek (KDU-ČSL).

According to him, the building from the mid-1980s has never undergone a technological reconstruction. The only major investment was the renovation of the large hall in 2004 for 51 million crowns and the installation of new organs.

This year, the region will adjust the halls and common areas used by conservatory students and concert visitors. At the same time, workers must replace all the wiring. The original author of the building, architect Jan Třeštík, and architect Ondřej Teplý collaborated on the project plan for the modernization.

"After a more detailed examination, it turned out that all the technological wiring, which is hidden from common eyes, is at the end of its life. And because it wouldn't be very wise to beautify the interiors and leave rotten pipes in the walls, this phase awaits us as well," said Línek.

The house needs new audiovisual technology, and the meeting rooms currently do not have ideal acoustics for musicians' rehearsals and concerts. Two small halls and one large hall will be suitable for concerts, lectures, and conference events after the reconstruction.

The building from 1983 was not only a party facility; it was also used by the Young Communists and the monopoly trade union organization ROH. Since the early 1990s, it has been used by the Pardubice Conservatory, the East Bohemian State Chamber Orchestra, the current Chamber Philharmonic of Pardubice, and the Havlíčkova Elementary Art School after its transfer to the state.

The region expects the work to last two years. The second phase includes the replacement of windows and insulation of the building. It will cost around 40 million crowns. The regional government may start it simultaneously with the interior renovations.
