Kolín - The Kolín Kmoch Island, which is among the popular excursion spots in the city, will have a new landmark. It will be a modern natural stage, the construction of which is nearing completion. It is expected to open in May, said Deputy Mayor Roman Pekárek to ČTK. "The construction has progressed, the amphitheater will be completed in March or at the latest in April," he added. The city hall still needs to appoint a manager who will oversee the entire area. In addition to the summer stage on Kmoch Island, a new fenced children's playground, restrooms, and public lighting have been created, and the paths and utilities have been repaired. The amphitheater includes a covered stage, stands, and shops. The construction cost approximately 24 million crowns. Of that, ten million crowns were covered by a state grant, and the rest by the city. As part of the renovation of Kmoch Island, which was part of the construction of a new pedestrian bridge over the Elbe, the city hall also had the old footbridge over the river's blind arm repaired some time ago. Lighting was reconstructed and the surroundings of both bridges were modified.
