Kolín - Kolín today received a grant for the construction of a parking tower for cyclists at the local bus station. The costs are estimated at 13.2 million crowns, with EU funding reaching 11.7 million crowns and 500,000 being covered by the Central Bohemian Region. For a bike tower for more than 100 bikes, Kolín will thus pay approximately one million crowns from its budget, said Deputy Mayor Michael Kašpar (Change for Kolín) to ČTK.
Kolín plans to build the bicycle parking tower as part of the reconstruction of the bus station, which began last year. Kolín received the grant for the construction of the bike house in the second call of the Integrated Regional Operational Program. The city wanted to apply in the first call, from which it received 50 million for the reconstruction of the entire bus station.
Kašpar previously stated that the bike racks at the station are already insufficient in capacity. Other Central Bohemian towns are also building bike houses; a parking tower operates, for example, in Lysá nad Labem in the Nymburk region and is currently being constructed in Poděbrady.
During the reconstruction of the station, Kolín will build a covered terminal so that passengers can transfer from bus to train without getting wet. The reconstruction of the station will cost approximately 60 million crowns and will be completed by the end of this year.
