Karlovy Vary heritage conservationists are addressing the securing of several buildings in Kyselka

Karlovy Vary - The Department of Heritage Preservation of the Karlovy Vary City Hall is addressing how to secure two of the dilapidated buildings in the former Kyselka spa. This was initiated by a proposal submitted by the Association of Organizations for the Protection and Development of Cultural Heritage in the Czech Republic (ASORKD), which concerned the Jindřichův and Švýcarský dvůr buildings. This was reported today by the city hall spokesperson Jan Kopál. The heritage preservationists are also expected to address the securing of three additional buildings in the administrative proceedings.
     ASORKD today questioned whether the Karlovy Vary City Hall will react to its proposal at all. According to the association's vice president Martin Kadrman, the city management has repeatedly shown its favor towards the building owners in Kyselka, who are Karlovarské minerální vody (KMV) and C.T.S. Duo. The city hall spokesperson rejected this. "Before the expiration of the given deadline, we sent the association a response regarding the procedure in the case of its proposal. We are addressing the securing of the buildings," he noted.
     How specifically the heritage preservationists will proceed has not yet been stated by Kopál. However, as early as February, the city hall imposed a fine of 1.8 million crowns on KMV for poor care of protected monuments in the Kyselka spa, and the Regional Office of the Karlovy Vary Region confirmed this decision. KMV was fined for three separate buildings from the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries. The company, which will defend itself through the courts, according to the justification, disrupted the urbanistic value of the spa area in Kyselka.
     Kopál stated that repairs of the first buildings are planned in Kyselka. The KMV company intends to start the reconstruction of two buildings in its ownership this autumn. They have already submitted an application for the issuance of a zoning decision for the reconstruction of the Löschner pavilion to the building authority in Kyselka. Following the discussion of the application, the reconstruction could thus begin this autumn.
